Bodacious Beth BLASTS them all!!
 
 
 
Well, as often happens, another of my STAR recruits GRADUATED from New Leaf Nutrition school just the other day! :)
 
Our journey together started only in July, and in 4 short months, I am pleased to announce Miss Beth is almost a new person!
 
Well, in all honesty, she is just now more FREE and CONFIDENT to BE herself and to not hold back and hide from the world.
 
Although Beth admits in the beginning she THOUGHT she was a HAPPY and POSITIVE person, she now claims, "Who was I kidding?! I don't think people realise what REALLY feeling good feels like; I don't think they know the difference"
 
Beth came to me initially because she was looking for a change in lifestyle. She was not happy within herself and she wanted to lose weight. Her self-esteem, confidence and social self were affected by how she felt about herself. "I just don't like the package I'm in...I'm not comfortable in my own skin... I miss out on stuff I want to go for...I'm too embarrassed to go jogging...I feel a little older (than I am)...even though I know being active is good for me, both physically and mentally, it all just seems too hard sometimes..."
 
Fast forward to now and this girl is UNSTOPPABLE!!
 
Joining in a 21 day fitness challenge, run my one of my very good friends, and AMAZING trainer Tiago Amaral of surrender2fitness.com.au, Beth not only showed up and gave it her best, she also BLASTED everyone else out of the water dropping a whopping 3.7 kg in 3 weeks and 21 cm from her waist! Incredible!
 
You should see this girl in action! You would NEVER guess she is the same Beth from July !!

Beth's food choices have dramatically changed and she is now free of her Coke addiction! Something she NEVER thought possible! :)
 
Of course she is making the choices that make her FEEL GOOD and her preferences have naturally changed. She still eats out often, has social events to attend and of course enjoys drinks with the girls. Its all about knowing what is good for YOUR body and learning how to get in in the balance that suits your unique lifestyle.
 
It has been a PLEASURE working with Beth and I will sincerely miss our catch ups! Such a beautiful personality with SO much happiness to share- one of those smiles that just makes you smile too! :)

"When I first came to see you, I really felt like I had run out of options and this was the last chance to get my bum into gear and do something about feeling good about myself. 
My weight was definitely an issue but more importantly I really felt like I had to get my head space right. 
I was constantly consumed about feeling bad and negative thoughts about my food choices.  I’d be good for a few days and then just ruin it by eating something unhealthy and then thinking “oh whats the point?” 
I also had it in my head that there was something I wasn’t quite getting, it was right there on the tip of my tongue but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. 
 
YOU HELPED ME FIGURE IT OUT! 
 
Feel good.  How simple is it?  Whatever it is you do FEEL GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!  If I know having that coke will have me thinking about it for the rest of the afternoon and feeling bad, well don’t have it.  And by not having it, I feel good for making a good decision.  Its seriously that easy.  There have been times I’d had a coke and its been awesome but I find them getting less and less and even coke zero and Bacardi is tasting ok (has the world gone crazy!)
 
I’ve found myself doing things I would never have thought I would do.  For example – doing some Christmas shopping, I was thinking about what else I could buy people that didn’t involved chocolates or alcohol.  I don’t want that for myself so why would I promote that for other people – they will get enough from other people anyway! 
 
Another thing on my recent holidays, instead of thinking “cool I can veg out, eat and drink all I want, no excerise”  Instead I was excited about still keeping active and eating healthier than I would have otherwise.  I wouldn’t have thought I would ever be that way!
 
Putting my whole journey into a positive light instead of a negative- "No you cant have this and no you cant have that", has been the best thing.  I still have quite a way to go but I feel 100% more prepared mentally and you’ve given me the tools to carry on and not expect perfection all the time.  I can totally do this :)
 
I could go on and on about the changes I know I’ve made, but in a nutshell, I’m 100% more open-minded and happier and optimistic about everything.  I know if I make good choices, the effect that has on my mind body and soul is invaluable!

"Thank-you! It has been an absolute pleasure to have been able to spend time with you. You are truly an amazing woman who I admire greatly. When I first came to you I wanted to make changes that the whole family could take on in order to improve our lives(in the food department!) I wanted increased energy & vitality.
 
Well what I got was a few chats aboutfood and a whole lot of "mind strengthening". Food wasn't my passion (hence the reason I went to see you ha ha ) I COULD live without(well I thought I could), & it didn't drive me. What I have learnt from you is that without it I am empty, lethargic & really, really hungry :)
 
I have changed my diet & nowlook at food very differently & if I don't eat, my body lets me know that it isn't happy! By the way I am totally addicted to sweet chilli & lime Salmon tins & yes that is from a "determined not to eat salmon person" !! It is so funny :)
I must admit though it has been the "mind strengthening" that I have truly loved & hung onto your every word. When I leave you after my visits I am so pumped that I can conquer anything I want to.The 2 hour drive home was time to reflect on all you had said & how I was going to action it!
 
You gave me or rather "found" my courage & self confidenceand dusted it off & said "here it is, now go & use it!" So during our time I have looked at what I really want to do with my life, what I love & am totally passionate about &what is stopping me from doing it .....AND now I have applied to go to Uni to do my Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery !!!!!!
 
THANK YOU BRIDGET! Only my fears had been stopping me. I stopped believing in myself & my dreams along time ago and now I have awoken them, it feels great! I have such an excitement going through me & I am just itching to get going :)
 
When I stopped my attitude changed & I got "lost& felt down" but once you get me back on track, my positiveness always come back.
 
That's the great thing about you,you are always available & quickly make a negative-positive!
 
My relationship with my kids has changed & we have fun more often these days & I actually"feel" myself in the moment. That makes me smileand the kids love it :)
 
I have made heaps of loving changes to our family & the food changes "just happened" along the way...incredible! When you feel happy within yourself you automatically want to start eating good food & look after your body.
 
You have such simple ideas that I can't say "I can't do it" because they are so easy to do & make life simpler!

Brilliant Brad!
 
 
I first met Brad in September 2008 at an information evening held for a pilot program I ran with another business owner called, "Red Day Energy". The concept is to improve the health of business owners and employees; without health, what is business or financial success, AND how healthy can your business stay if you are not healthy yourself?
 
Along with his bosses and fellow colleague, Jo (yes another Success Story below), Brad engaged in the Red Day Energy program until its completion in December of 2008. Since then he has truly consolidated a completely new lifestyle and is enjoying a very different experience to when he began.
 
The journey with Brad has been sensational! Seeing him transform from a young man in his early 20's who was stressed out (having his blood pressure monitored and investigated), lacking passion and simply "going through the motions", to a confident, determined and driven individual has been so rewarding!
 
His bosses and colleagues will attest to the dramatic transformation, as will his friends and family. In fact, some might say the transformation was such that it attracted a passionate, happy and fun relationship into his life :)
 
Yes, Brad is now my partner and we have been together since January 2009. Let's just say, the healthy, fit, happy and confident Brad I re-encountered after the Christmas break was too irresistable to let by! haha.

"I met Bridget at a seminar that my workplace invited me to called Red Day Energy. At first I didn't really know what to expect. I knew nothing about what this seminar was going to be selling, out of interest I tagged along.

Sitting there listening to Bridget and listening to all the facts and figures that were spoken I started to realise that I was living my life in all the wrong ways. When I thought I was eating healthy – I wasn't, When I thought I had energy – I never did. I can say all this now because I have been taught by Bridget the fundementals of living a happy, fullfiling, energized and active lifestyle. She taught me to start thinking healthy- in ALL aspects of my life, not just food- and when you start thinking healthy you start being healthy.

My boss signed me up to this course and I was keen to find out more so I agreed. My goal was to be able to cook healther meals and to lose some weight and also to be a happeir person and to be able to deal with stress a lot better..
I started Red Day Energy at 86kg. My goal weight was to be around 75kg.

I was a bit optimistic about the whole thing and I always thought “how hard can it be”, but I never made an effort to actually do it. Until I started to see Bridget.

I was determined to get to the goals I set myself. Bridget had some fantastic ideas and I love cooking so I put those ideas into practice. I found that it is actually much easier to cook healthy meals, I was always under the impression that it takes to much time and I never had that time. These were just excuses I was telling myself.

Now everything I eat is 100 times healthier than what I used to eat. When I compare shopping lists from the past to now, it makes me laugh; no wonder I felt so terrible! I also now eat things I always thought I didn't like, such as avocado, sweet potato and eggplant! My preferences for foods have completely changed and if I eat something I used to like, my body reacts very badly. It is so easy to stay on trackbecause my body now craves and prefers what I have learnt to eat. To me it is now natural and simple!

I am now weighing in at 74kg. I have also maintained this weight give or take 1kg. I feel fantastic and I have such a positive outlook on life now. I feel confident in the descisions I make at work. I feel so much better in myself. My stress levels have dramatically turned around and I am so much more happier with my life and in myself

Meet Magnificent Michelle!

 
 
I first met Michelle in July of 2008. To say she had been somewhat "hand-balled" by health professionals and doctors to date is fair. She, as well as her mother, were feeling very frustrated, yet they were determined to find answers. In their quest, they came across me :)

I am so glad they did! Michelle is now firing along in life having completed her Diploma in an area of study she is passionate about, and now moving out of home and in with her boyfriend! Her confidence, self-acceptance and happiness have really blossomed!

It has been incredibly fulfilling to work with Michelle and to see the changes it has meant not only for her life and self-reltionship, but also for her mum, who is incredibly proud of her beautiful daughter.

Life is now flowing for Michelle and she can finally move on from something that was haunting her and holding her back for so long! :)

"When my daughter first met Bridget, she was really struggling with her weight, food choices and motivation. She had recently joined a gym where she heard about a 'nutrition guru'.

Some of you will remember and know a little bit about Miss Jodie and her journey. Well, let me just say....this girl has blown my mind in terms of the transformation she has gone through in 4 MONTHS!!! She has absolutely blossomed into the incredibly beautiful, talented, articulate and subtly confident girl she always was.

Jodie, working with you has been such a blessing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity and for you opening up so much to me and trusting me so implicitly!

I know we will stay in touch for ever and continue to share this journey called LIFE! Next......I can hear baby cries..... lol...

To all of you out there....I hope you can feel the truth in Jodie's words and perhaps allow them to inspire you in some way!

"Bridget,

Our sessions may have come to an end but I will never forget everything you have given me. Not only have you taught me the fundamentals of nutritious food, you have taught me how to use all this extra energy that I have as an outcome of eating well and put it towards the other facets of my life.
I feel that I am a changed person for the better and that my life is heading in the right direction. I am happier, healthier, energized, committed, confident, and more importantly enjoying my new life.

Towards the end of our sessions I was starting to get scared that once our sessions ended, I would fall back into my rut. However, the knowledge I have acquired from Bridget will last me a lifetime and the idea of being able to pass on my knowledge to my children (when I have them) and build a happy and healthy home for them gives me much comfort.

I must say Bridget that I never imagined eating the right foods would be so enjoyable. I enjoy shopping for food more than clothes now, having a kitchen full of colourful fruit and veg looks amazing. I take photos of my dinners now just because they look so amazing I want to share them with others. It tastes just as good as it looks which is even better. I haven’t looked back or craved my old food either, my body has adapted to this food, which has assisted in me continuing with this healthy lifestyle more easily.

I am still taking baby steps towards my goals, and only this week I have been getting up an hour earlier every morning and not once (yet) have I not bounced out of bed with enthusiasm. I don’t make myself exercise either, I just get up and do something active, whether it be cleaning, washing, swimming, 1 hour on Wii Fit, or today I even went out and climbed up and down the Stairs from level 1 to level 8 about five times. Never thought I would, but I’ve felt better since I’ve started doing this. Don’t know how I’ll go in Winter, but that’s my next step….

I came to you Bridget, because I wanted to up my energy levels (as Icouldn’t lift myself up after having Chronic Fatigue), and to lose weight. Bridget you more than exceeded my expectations of you and for the lifetime knowledge you gave me, I thank you. You’re the best."

Today- 4 months later

“I have lost around 12kg and Cheryl has lost about 4kg- we are now getting back to the weights that we were almost 17 years ago when we first met and very happy with this”
 
I first met Jim last August (2008), a few days before his 51st birthday. He was sent to me by his doctor for weight loss and exercise advice. He was on no medications and had no apparent medical conditions, other than slightly elevated liver function tests. Nevertheless, he was motivated to heed advice from his trusty GP that doing something about his weight now would greatly improve his health and energy and keep him out of trouble through the next few years of his life, and forever more.
 
Well Jim- and unexpectedly, Cheryl- have done just that and in fact massively exceeded even their own expectations! They are now living and LOVING a lifestyle that has them feeling AND looking 20 years younger!
 
Congrats guys! You are a true inspiration and excellent example that health IS a choice and EVERYONE can benefit massively from eating and living well! I thank-you for embracing and trusting me in your lives! xo

"I have been very impressed with the way that you have gone about your task of making a healthier Jim.

I first met you in early August after a session with my GP who told me that I would have to lose at least 10kg as I was compromising my health. He suggested that I contact you Bridget to help me achieve the weight loss within 3 months.

After your first visit both my wife Cheryl and I decided that we could both do this together and achieve the goal. We both see this as a lifestyle change and certainly not like any of the countless diets or weight loss programs that are currently advertised in everything you see or read in the media.

We always ate relatively healthy but this has just taken us to another level where we are both very conscious of what we eat and the importance of regular exercise.

The change has not always been easy but has paid dividends in the end. I had to cut down a lot on two of my other loves in life namely chocolate and beer. I have almost totally cut out the beer but have one or two on the odd occasion, as for the chocolate well that is slightly different. As you mentioned you do not have to go cold turkey on everything, you did suggest that I could have a couple of squares once a week of dark chocolate, I do so much look forward to a Sunday evening.

My alcohol intake other than beer (I am a Scotsman remember and love my Single Malts) has also taken a bit of a dive, I will just have to take up something else to keep the Scottish economy thriving. We do tend to have at least 2 alcohol free days a week which has also helped my old liver. One thing that is not always good is the amount of water that I now consume, at least 3 litres/day, I was never a big water drinker but this has certainly attributed to the weight loss. I work as a Project manager for an engineering company and always involved in meetings, the bad thing about the water is that I am constantly running to the toilet, people find this pretty funny, I just think I will need to get a bigger bladder.

Your visits that we thought initially to be a wee bit expensive have proved to be worth every cent. I have lost more weight than my initial goal and Cheryl has been feeling much better also losing some weight. We have looked forward to your visits and little pep talks plus the beautiful healthy menus you have supplied.

Since starting last August I have lost around 12 Kg and Cheryl has lost about 4 kg we are now getting back to the weights that we were almost 17 years ago when we first met and very happy with this.

You keep walking the walk and talking the talk Bridget and keep inspiring people and we will have a very much healthier population.

Personally, I learned SO much from Nicky. What an amazing girl, and gee, what challenges life has thrown at her already! At 26 years of age, Nicky has had to do one of the hardest things any of us will have to do in our lives...She has had to say goodbye to her beautiful mum, with whom she had such a great bond and connection.

I have never dealt with loss of this type before, so personally and professionally it challenged me. Together Nicky and I worked out a way to embrace her mum's presence and for her to continue her life, not trying to FORGET her mum, but to carry her along with her always.

This has been a beautiful journey and I will always cherish the opportunity to have worked with Nicky. Thank you hun, for trusting me so much and sharing something so private, precious and painful with me. You will forever remain in my heart and mind! xo

"Before I met Bridget I felt like I was just eating and eating, although it was healthy food, I kept putting on weight and couldn't work out why. I thought that if it's healthy then there is no problem how much I eat. But I kept feeling hungry so I would eat some more. I am a typical emotional eater but didn't know what to do. My mum passed away and things just became so overwhelming. I felt like I was drowning and just kept eating. I put on nearly 10kg in a month and was desperate to stop this.
 
After a couple of months I phoned Bridget to arrange a meeting. I was quite excited thinking that I would get a diet plan, an exercise plan and be told exactly what to eat and when.
 
After our first session I realised this was not what I was going to get. Instead I realised how emotional nutrition can be.
 
We organised fortnightly sessions and after meeting with Bridget I felt like I was on a high.
 
She taught me so much about myself and it was interesting to hear an outsiders point of view of my eating patterns. I realised just how much energy I was eating and how much I was using and noticed that I was eating a whole lot more! No wonder I put on weight!!

The main focus of our sessions was to work out why I was an emotional eater and move away from that.
 
Bridget has taught me a whole new philosophy which revolves around enjoying life as it is right now! And being grateful for things I have and things I have done. 'This too shall pass' was something that I will never forget.

I now feel that I have the tools to be able to deal with anything. I also have a lot more energy, am losing weight and just feel better about myself. I can't stop telling my family and friends and they are now enjoying these benefits too! I realised that nutrition is not just what you should or shouldn't eat, it's a whole lot more. Thanks Bridget!!!

It's funny, I was just thinking back over what I was like when we first met. So much has changed!! I am so grateful for all your support and your friendship. I definately know that we crossed paths for a reason.

"How I came to see Bridget...
As a person with type 2 Diabetes and long term chronic psoriasis, I agreed with my doctor some 4 months ago, to proceed with a G P Management Plan. This plan specified a series of goals to be achieved in order to control my blood sugar levels, and prevent further complications associated with diabetes. The plan required me to see a Dietician, who happened to be Bridget.
When I first met Bridget, I initially felt a little threatened and apprehensive that my daily diet would be reviewed. I had concerns over my high sugar levels and needing to take extra medication. My energy levels were low and I suffered from headaches.
Bridget is a good listener and her encouragement and enthusiasm helped my confidence. Her practical suggestions were not overwhelming and I felt ready to make changes.
Bridget stressed that she was available at any time to help. Her support made me feel that all changes were a joint effort. There was no negativity, just a positive view to the future.

Where I am at....
(As at November 08- Terry has since lost more weight)
Since my first visit to Bridget, approximately 3 months ago, I feel I have turned my life around. I have had a complete diet turnaround! My energy level has increased and my sugar levels have reduced dramatically. I also have less headaches.
I feel more in control.I have achieved a weight reduction of 9 kgs ( my target is 10 kgs ), and I have halved my blood sugar levels.
Of the 7 individual targets set by my doctor, I have already achieved 6 of them.

How do I feel?
Because I now take a greater part in preparing and cooking food
for healthy living, I feel that I am contributing more than I did previously.
It feels good to share the responsibility with my wife.
I also like the feeling of control. I control what I eat and subsequently how my body feels.
One of the benefits of eating healthy food is that I have a lot more energy.No more feeling lethargic or having to have those long midday naps/sleeps.

What have the changes meant for me?
With Bridget's help and support, both my wife and I have a far more healthy life. We share the load and in addition to feeling better now, I have no doubt that we will reap the benefits long term. I look forward to using the decisions that I make to take responsibility and control future outcomes regarding my health.

Thanks to my doctor and Bridget I feel that my life is now back on track and with my wife look forward to many happy years with our grandchildren.

Jo was a participant in a group program a business colleague and I piloted- Red Day Energy. It was an incredible experience for me and helped me to realise my true passion is in fact one on one coaching and being able to nurture and support an individual through the process of change. This program is a core reason for the restructuring of my business and direction going into 2009. I am INCREDIBLY excited about what 2009 will bring!
 
Back to Jo! Jo has inspired me more than I could express. A beautiful soul who is only just realising her true greatness!
 
What she does not mention below (as it is not the most important aspect), is that in the process of discovering herself she has quit smoking, lost 12kg (last count- but still coming off!), and significantly reduced her alcohol intake. Oh! She has also taken the plunge to change careers, purchase a new vehicle and pursue her dreams! Wow! This girl is unbeatable! I hope you enjoy her story :) xo

In his 50's Rex Morrow is as fit and healthy as he has been in a very long time and leading a very different life to 17 months ago.

Suffering a heart attack over 4 years ago was not as rude a wake up call as the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes in September 06.

This news spurred Rex into action and lead to his introduction to Bridget, as part of his health team.

Weighing in at 101kg, Rex was stressed, suffering low moods, tired, and lacking energy. He was on a cholesterol lowering medication and facing the real possibility of adding a diabetic medication to this.

By making a few simple changes to his diet and learning the basics about food, Rex noticed changes quickly. Rex's food choices were by no means "unhealthy options", in fact they were quite good. It came down to a few consistent changes that made a significant, and almost immediately noticeable, difference to his energy levels, moods and general feelings of wellbeing.

Exercise on a regular basis helps Rex find himself in full momentum of a completely new lifestyle.

Today at 84kg Rex still wants to shift a few more kilo's, however feels 150% better than he did. Not only does he have sky high energy levels, he is much happier, proud of his achievement and enjoying the pleasant side effect of immaculately clear skin! Acne had been a haunt for the better part of his life.

When I first met Bridget I felt like a 90 year old woman! I am only in my 50's and I was feeling concerned about my overall health and in particular frustrated about not being able to loose weight despite trying numerous diets and weight loss programmes.
 
At our first meeting Bridget was very thorough in helping me to outline what I wanted from the process while at the same time offering support and information to guide me in the right direction. "When I first met Bridget, I was in the same old routine. My doctor recommended I see Bridget as my diabetes was poorly controlled and my legs were starting to really suffer. I was tired all the time and there was no way I could keep up with my energetic wife- I felt like a tortoise! I had been this way for at least 5 years, I didn' think anything could change the way I was feeling or how my health was progressing. To be honest, I didn't think seeing Bridget would make a difference, I didn't think changing my diet would work.
 
As time went on I was proven wrong. I now believe it works! After only a few weeks I felt really good, much better. A couple of months later, I have LOTS of energy and I am fitting into pants I haven't been able to wear in 2 years and my usual pants are now too big! A huge moment of pride though was being able to put my kilt on again- medals and all.
